Why see a Private GP?

We can offer you an appointment within a few days and sometimes on the day.

We offer long appointments to be able to get to the bottom of your problem.

We offer face to face appointments, although remote consultations can be organized, whatever is more convenient for you.

Do I need a referral to be seen?

No, you do not need a referral and you do not need to be registered with an NHS GP. Anyone can make an appointment with us.

 

Why different appointment times?

We think it is very important to give you enough time to discuss your health issue. If you have more than one issue you’d like to discuss or if your problem is complicated it might be worthwhile booking an extended consultation.

 

All new consultations are at least 30 min so we can go over your previous medical history and get to know you better.

 

Do you have access to my NHS medical notes?

Unfortunately, we do not have access to your NHS medical notes. As a patient you have the right to access your notes so you can ask your practice for a summary or any other information you would like to share with us. Especially test results relating to your problem are very useful to avoid duplicating tests.

 

It is very helpful if you can bring a list of the medications you are taking and any hospital letters or test results you have.

 

Do I need to bring anything to the consultation?

It is very useful if you can download the health Information form , fill it in and bring it with you or email it to the secretary before the date of the appointment.

 

Alternatively just bring a list of your medications.

 

If you can, bring any results or hospital letters you have which are related to the problem you’d like to discuss.

 

Can you organize blood tests or other investigations if necessary?

All the private hospitals where we work offer all sorts of investigations like blood tests, ECG,  x-rays, ultrasound, MRI, CT. Blood tests, ECG and x-rays can often be done on the same day as your consultation. These get charged by the hospital and will be invoiced to you separately.

 

The results will be sent to us (this usually takes about a week) and we will be in contact with you, either via written letter, or via telephone (if urgent) with those results.

 

Can you refer me to a specialist if necessary?

We can do private referrals to any specialty. All private hospitals we work from have plenty of specialists across most specialties to whom we can refer. We can also refer to anyone else of your choice.

 

Do you do medicals?

We can do any medical which can be done by ANY GP. If the medical specifically states it needs to be filled in by your own GP or a GP with access to all your notes we are not able to do these.

 

DVLA: we can do HGV medicals but cannot do medicals related to specific conditions or illnesses. We also don’t do medicals to regain your license after a period of non-driving.

 

Visa related medicals: We cannot do medicals for visa’s for US/Australia/New Zealand as these need to be done by specially accredited medical professionals. We can do most other countries including China and Japan.

 

Diving medicals: We do not offer diving medicals as again these need to be done by specially accredited medical professionals.

 

If in doubt you can forward us your medical form via email and we can advise you whether or not we can help.

 

Do you undertake medico legal work?

No, we regret we do not undertake any medico legal work.

 

Will you contact my GP about my consultation?

We don’t routinely write letters to your GP as they did not consult us. However we can do this on your request if you like.

 

We don’t routinely write letters to patients unless agreed during the consultation and when advising you about test results.

 

Do you do remote consultations?

We prefer to do face to face consultations as we think there is a lot gained from that. We do understand that this is not always possible or convenient and we are happy to offer telephone or video consults. These can be booked via the same way as normal consults.
